Program Philosophy

At WLCNS, we continue to grow and develop while maintaining guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education.  The "How Does Learning Happen?" pedagogy encompasses the nursery school’s philosophy that learning happens through, “a shared understanding of children, families, and educators” and is an integral piece of learning in the early years environment.

The WLNCS supports and maintains the Early Learning Framework Principles outline by the Ministry of Education:

  1. The early years set the foundation for lifelong learning, behaviour, health and well-being;

  2. Partnerships with families and communities help early childhood settings to best meet the needs of young children;

  3. Respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion is vital for the optimal development and learning;

  4. A planned program supports early learning;

  5. Play is a means to learning that capitalizes on children’s natural curiosity and exuberance; and,

  6. Knowledgeable and responsive early childhood educators and other early learning practitioners are essential to early childhood settings.

Vision Statement

Success is not only defined by profit, but by the well-being of the members within the community, from 0 to 100.  At the WLCNS we strive to support children, their families, and early years professionals inclusively, to foster life-long learners within caring communities.

Mission Statement

WLCNS is an inclusive engagement children’s centre, dedicated to providing high quality education and developmental opportunities to all children and families in our community.  We strive to maintain Ministry standards and will work hard to foster a dynamic relationship with your child to promote learning, development, health, and well-being.
