I chose to become an ECE because I became a participating parent when my oldest son started at the preschool in 2017 and I absolutely loved it. It brought me so much joy to be able to work with young children and to support their learning and development. Being part of their early experiences—watching them grow in confidence, curiosity, and skills—was incredibly rewarding and inspired me to pursue a career where I could make a positive impact during such an important stage of their lives. I officially started as an employee at WLCNS in 2020. My experience with children comes from volunteering at the preschool with both of my boys, as well as being a very involved aunt to my nieces and nephews. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for early childhood development and discovered how much I enjoy nurturing, guiding, and supporting children as they learn and grow. This hands-on involvement confirmed my desire to pursue a career as an Early Childhood Educator, where I can make a meaningful impact. A moment that truly shaped my passion for this work was during my time volunteering at my children’s preschool. I remember helping a child who was struggling to participate in an activity. With patience, encouragement, and gentle guidance, I watched their confidence grow and saw the pride on their face when they succeeded. That moment made me realize the powerful impact early childhood educators have—not just on learning, but on a child’s sense of self. What also stood out to me, were the smiling faces and the excitement the children showed each day when they came to school, eager to learn and explore. Their enthusiasm and joy reinforced how meaningful this work is. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time at the arena watching both of my boys play hockey and making lasting family memories during the summer while camping together at our trailer.

I have always had a deep love for working with children and supporting their growth during the early years. Growing up as the neighbourhood babysitter sparked my lifelong interest in child development and the incredible learning that takes place in early childhood. I joined WLCNS in September 2022, a place that already felt like home, as all three of my children attended the preschool. With over 10 years of experience running a home daycare, I am passionate about creating a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable, supported, and valued. Where it truly is and feels like a home away from home. Caring for young children and watching them grow, explore, and build confidence brings me so much joy. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, and spending quality time with my family. We are a big hockey family, as it was the sport of choice for all three of my children.
